Two elderly couple from Manampatti village in Melur Taluk, Madurai, have moved the Judicial Magistrate, claiming that actor Dhanush is their son.

R Katharesan (60) and K Meenakshi (55) have said that Dhanush had left their home when he was 17-years-old, way back in 2002, with the aim of becoming an actor. While Dhanush was born in 1983, they have claimed that Kalaiyarasan, which they say is Dhanush's real name, was born in 1985.

The couple have also demanded a maintenance of Rs. 65,000 per month.
