These days, with mass masala movies and commercial entertainers leading the world of filmdom, an actor portraying himself as the character of the film and not use the movie to show his ‘star’ self and please his fans, is quite rare.

Also, it’s a debatable topic now, when we come to consider whether a protagonist is a ‘star / hero’ or the character of the film. This debate still exists, not sparing even the top most stars in every single language…

One such movie where the character had importance and was etched with beauty is Vetri Maaran’s ‘Aadukalam,’ that released early this year during Pongal. The movie’s key strength that helped it reach all classes of audience was the ‘realism’ factor, the local flavours and traditions. All thanks to the director for running such a good show…

Dhanush’s performance as KP Karupu was an immediate hit among all, for he got into the shoes of the character and was a natural at it. The scenes were he woos the heroine through his broken English, his care-free attitude, the way he faces betrayal from the nearest of kin were all well-portrayed.

The young talent has made us all proud for he bagged the National Award for the best Actor category for his performance in this film. Dhanush who dedicated the award to his father-in-law, Superstar Rajinikanth, is the youngest actor to have bagged the honourable award!

We @ IndiaGlitz congratulate the actor on this award and are looking forward to watch him play many other performance oriented roles. Post your wishes in here and tell us what you feel about the actor having received the award…
