Dhoni

Friday, February 10, 2012 • Telugu Comments

Dhoni is not a cliched film that tells a cliched father-son relationship in a cliched tone.  Prakash Raj explores a myriad nuances with his first directorial venture.  The subject (seemingly) derives its essence from Raj's personal ideology about what true education means.  Taking a dig against judging the pupil by means of a marking system, Raj's film seeks to uphold that it is equally necessary and important to understand the feelings, hopes, aspirations and likes and dislikes of the child.

Starring himself and Master Akash in the leads, the film stars Radhika Apte, Brahmanandam, Tanikella Bharani, Gollapudi Maruthirao, Nassar, Ananth, Shankar Melkote, Gundu Hanumantarao, Sri Lakshmi, Pragathi and others.

Going by the trailers, there is lot of conflict and emotions in Dhoni.  The father wants to make his son an MBA professional, but the son eyes the near-impossible aim of being an MSD.  He becomes paralysed at one point, and the father is disillusioned with the education system.  It is then he starts posing some hard and inconvenient questions.

Music-directed by Illayaraja, the film has dialogues by Gnanavel and Mahesh Raja.  Lyrics are by Sirivennela Seetarama Sastry.  Cinematography is by KV Guhan, while editing is by Kishore.  Art work is by K Kadir.
