He may be known as a tough taskmaster who will leave no stone unturned to get the best performances out of his actors and technicians. But Bala`s compassion towards the underprivileged and the disabled is well known and that is why it is a recurring theme in all his films.

The acclaimed National Award winning director and his Thara Thappatai` team presented essential electronic items like LED TV, Mixi, Grinder as well as dresses and toys to the physically handicapped children at the asylum where the climax of Thara Thappatai` was shot. Incidenlty this is the place where hero Sasikumar broke his hand.
