Former journalist and director Era.Sravanan has made heads turn with his debut film Kathukutti` which deals with the problems faced by farmers of Tamil Nadu and also the ill-effects of the proposed Methane Extraction project on the livelihoods of farmers as well as the people living in Cauvery delta regions of Tamil Nadu.

The film has released on October 9 after many struggles and has been getting positive reviews from critics and audience who have watched it on the first day.

In an exclusive interview to Indiaglitz, Saravanan revealed what gave him the confidence of selecting such a serious issue as the plot of his debut film.

"I wrote a the script and had decided to make it as my first film. The huge success of Kaththi` strengthened my confidence on my script and its acceptability by Tamil audience. A big star like Vijay taking up such a film that dealt with farmers` issues as its core plot is something commendable. Vijay has become a much more favourite star among the people living in delta region. "

It is worth recalling that Kaththi` directed by A.R.Murugadoss with Vijay and Samantha in lead roles is about the struggle of a group of farmers to redeem their land from corporate sharks and how the lead hero played by Vijay plays a vital role in their struggle. The film was a blockbuster hit of 2014.
