Yet another filmmaker, Selvan, who has made the Parthipan - Vignesh starrer ‘Soori’, apart from Jeevan’s film ‘Krishnaleelai’, is all set to don the greasepaint, following a path laid down by many directors like Bhagiyaraj, Cheran, Parthiban, Pandiarajan and Sasikumar.

Selvan’s ‘Maakkhan’, directed by his student N Murali Saami, will launch Selvan as the hero and got rolling yesterday. Director K Balachandar launched the movie, which is being produced by Selvan himself, under the banner Idea cinemas.

“Kamna Jethmalani was the original heroine, and when I had told her the story first, she specifically asked me to keep her in mind for the heroine’s role. Later, on knowing that I am playing the hero, she backed out of the project. Keethi Chawla is now doing her role,” Selvan announced, adding that it was the script that always demanded the hero.

Speaking about ‘Maakkhan’, he said it referred to a headstrong, yet troublesome man. How the society perceives even his noble actions is the story. The film would be shot extensively in Kollidam, Trichy, Thiruvarur, Nagai, Perambalur and its surroundings.

Srikanth Deva, who is composing the music, assures that he will not use electronic synthesizers used for any songs in this album or background score. Sukumaran cranks the camera.
