Piracy has affected the prospects of Indian cinema for a long time now.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay's recent blockbuster 'Theri' and Suriya's ambitious project '24' which has been running successfully in theatres have also fallen prey to pirates.

Now KE Gnanavel Raja, who has distributed the Vikram Kumar-directed sci-fi, has decided to take on this malady.

Gnanavel Raja has started a hunger protest from 5 p.m. this evening, seeking stringent action from the government and all stakeholders in order to curb piracy. He had made this decision after holding a meeting with fellow office-bearers of the Tamil Film Producers Council.

Actor and Nadigar Sangam General Secretary Vishal has also taken many efforts to nab those who involve in making pirated copies of films. He has also vowed that he will not let his upcoming release 'Marudhu' (Rayudu in Telugu) to become a victim of pirated versions.
