A 67-year-old woman was admitted to a hospital in Britain for cataract surgery. The doctors who were to operate on her eye were shocked to find 27 contact lenses smashed together in her right eye.

According to the report published in the journal BMJ, the woman wore monthly disposable contact lenses for almost 35 years and probably failed to remove several lenses given her poor vision in the right eye.

Doctors found that 17 lenses were bound by mucus. Another ten were found when a surgeon used a microscope.
