Dookudu dazzles in Dubai

From Mahesh Babu, Nagarjuna to Brahmanandam and Prakash Raj, many well-known and celebrated talent relating to the Telugu film industry won awards in various categories at the South Indian International Movie Awards, held in Dubai.

Mahesh sprung a surprise by winning the Best Actor award for his versatile role in Dookudu. The organisers gave away the Best Actor in a Special Appearance award to Nagarjuna for his role of a sage of revolution in Rajanna. Nayan won the Best Actress award for Sita’s role in Bapu's SRR, while other favourites who worked for the film, including the creator and the musician, drew a blank.

Prakash Raj won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role award for Dookudu. Brahmi got the Best Comedian for the same film. It was Dookudu which swept several awards, including that of the Best Music Director (SS Thaman), Best Lyricist (Ramajogayya Sastry for Guruvaram March Okati). To top it all, Srinu Vytla won the Best Director award, while 14 Reels Entertainments won the prestigious Best Film award.

Best Debutant Director award went to Nandini Reddy for Ala Modalaindi. Aadi for Prema Kavali and Shruthi Hassan for Anaganaga Oka Dheerudu won two other debutant awards. AOD bagged another award in the category of Best Actor in a Negative Role, which went to Lakshmi Manchu.
