Ek Rishta, Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya, Andaaz, Mere Jeevan Saathi and Barsaat. You don't need to be an Einstein to know the common factor between all these movies. One, they all have music by Nadeem Shravan and lyrics by Sameer. Two, each of the movies have boasted of popular musical score that has worked in all the centers whether it is A, B and C, hence proving the theory that melody is universal. Three, each of the flicks are the creation of one man - Suneel Darshan. And now he arrives with yet another musical with Nadeem Shravan and Sameer at the helm. A family entertainer, 'Dosti - Friends Forever' stars Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Kareena Kapoor and Lara Dutta. One looks forward to hearing the album with an anticipation of a continued winning streak from Darshan and Nadeem Shravan/Sameer.
1) Yeh Dosti [Udit Naralyan, Sonu Nigam]
Udit Narayan and Sonu Nigam get into a mutual admiration twosome when they croon 'Yeh Dosti', a beautiful song about friends and friendship. The camaraderie that Akshay and Bobby share on the screen comes from the fact that Sameer spins around the words in such lyrical fashion that it automatically becomes heartwarming for the two men who have an inseparable bond. Music by Nadeem Shravan has a grand feel to it throughout and should sound quite good in an auditorium. A song like this could well have turned situational or fade away after the movie is gone, but in case of 'Ye Dosti', it has all the potential to go some distance.
2) Dulhania [Kunal Ganjawala, Abhijeet, Alka Yagnik]
Just like the title track, even 'Dulhania' has everything in it that is required to make a song memorable. There have been celebration songs and there will be celebration songs but after a long time comes a track that has could go an extra distance just like 'Sajan Ji Ghar Aaye' [KKHH], 'Bole Chudiyan' [K3G] or 'Mahi Vey' [KHNH]. The song has the kind of 'Indian' feel to it that is so very important for a 'sagai/shaadi' situation but it's the rhythm that gives a great feel to it. All the three singers are good but if there is something that makes the song stand out from the rest, it is the chorus rendition of 'Dulhaniya' throughout. The song has been shot well too with high energy choreography complimenting the bright visuals.
3) Aisa Koi Zindagi Mein [Abhijeet, Alka Yagnik]
What does one expect from the song that has Abhijeet coming together with Alka Yagnik for a romantic duet? More often than not a song that would be etched in your heart for at least some time to come. Its exactly the same in 'Aisa Koyi Zindagi Mein Aaye' that simply makes you feel good when it is being played. A melodious track, it bears Nadeem Shravan stamp all over it and would be patronized by those who are truly in love.
4) Lets Boogie Woogie [Kunal Ganjawala, Vasundhara Das, Earl]
After some deep rooted Indian melodies comes a 'jump on the dance floor' track 'Lets Boogie Woogie'. A fine track, the one factor that impresses most is Vasundhara Das' accented rendition that gives an additional zing to it. As like all dance floors, even this too relies on beats and rhythm but somehow feels like an interruption when one was content hearing melodies songs. As a part of the movie, it could be a valuable addition and one may also start liking it after watching it along with a movie. But don't expect it to burst the charts on day one of its arrival.
5) Ishq Na Ishq Ho [Sukhwinder, Kailash Kher]
It was Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in 'Dulhe Ka Sehra' [Dhadkan], Ghulam Ali in 'Yaad Yaad' [Bewafa] and now Sukhwinder Singh/Kailash Kher in 'Ishq Na Ishq Ho' [Dosti].
