With the success of a slew of dubbed Tamil movies last year, the producers are trying to keep the tradition of dubbing popular Kollywood movies by dime a dozen in 2012. Even average hits which would not have seen the light of the day in AP just a year ago, are being dubbed with enthusiasm.

To begin with, Paruthiveeran, a Golden Jubilee hit in Tamil, is released as Malligadu on March 2. Starring Karthi and Priyamani in an award-winning role, the film is directed by Ameer. The film is a love story that ends in a violent and tragic end. With lead pair having an altogether different image from what they had when the film was originally released, Malligadu's success hinges on how well the people connect to its screenplay. It is to be noted that Paruthiveeran might have seemed novel, but after watching the tragedies like Vaadu-Veedu and Prema Khaidi, our audience seem to have been tired of tragedies.

Ekaveera, starring Aadi Pasupath and Dhansika in the main roles, is based on a novel titled Kaaval Kottam. The makers say that the story has a Mahabharatha link to it. Krishna, Duryodhana, Arjuna and Iravantha are considered as total men with 32 traits. The hero plays a character who is typically similar to Iravantha in the movie. After shooting in Kurnool's Gandikota for 18 days at a stretch, the makers are now shooting it in Bobbilikota, Hampi, Talakona and other spots.

Renigunta, again, is a youthful love story. The film is the story of a youth whose life takes a tragic twist when his parents are murdered one day. Ordeals only multiply when he is charged with a murder conspiracy by the police and jailed owing to the plot of the villains who frame him in the murder case. In the jail, the lone youth (hero) and four other criminals develop a bond. Soon the latter resolve to help him avenge the murder of his parents. They find themselves wanting to become gangsters. It is directed by Panner Selvam.

Love Journey stars Jai and 'Colors' Swathi in the leads. The film is about what happens when the imaginations jotted down in his diary by a youth becomes a reality. Love Journey has a novel idea", the makers say. After Anantapuram and Sangharshana, Swati has a meaty role in this Tamil dub. Sashank Vennelakanti is the dialogue-writer. Vennelakanti and Bhuvanachandra are the lyricists. The film will be released on March 9.

Besides, you have Dhanush and Shruthi Hassan-starrer 3, which features that mass rage Kolaveri Di number. Releasing in Tamil and Telugu on March 30, the film is directed by Aishwarya Dhanush. The entire film will be in Telugu yes, but what about the Kolaveri number? Ironically, we may not understand the lyrics if they were dubbed into Telugu!
