Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan is the pride of Tamil and Indian cinema and his fan base still extends to the current generation even after seventeen years since his passing away. One of the wishes of his innumerable fans was to have a memorial for him to be built to preserve his legacy for the generations to come.  Former Chief Minister Jayalalitha allocated land for Sivaji's "Mani Mandapam" opposite the Sathya Studios in Adyar.

The Nadigar Sangam who were supposed to raise the memorial failed to do so and Jayalalitha government set aside 2 Crores 80 lakhs for the project which commenced in December last year and completed this May.  The statue of the legend which was removed from the Marina citing traffic hinderance has also been placed in the new buildings.  There was however no news about when the inauguration would be.

The TN Government has just confirmed that the Sivaji Ganesan Memorial Building will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister Edappadi Pazhaniswamy on the 1st of October to commemorate the 90th birthday of the departed thespian.
