If anyone would have mentioned at the beginning of the year that a Sidharth Malhotra - Riteish Deshmukh starrer would have an opening week which would be next only to a Salman Khan led film, no one would have believed that. In fact the thought would have been shot down without any discussion or debate.

However, not anymore, considering the fact that 'Ek Villain' has enjoyed around 77 crore collections in its first week and if one compares it with 'Jai Ho' (88 crore), it is delightfully close. This is simply superb, something which even Ekta Kapoor, Mohit Suri and Co. wouldn't have imagined.

In one quick stroke, Ekta is now looking at record of her 'The Dirty Picture' being broken in the second weekend itself, Mohit and Shraddha all set to cross 'Aashiqui 2' today itself, Sidharth Malhotra managing to surpass 'Student of the Year' total within 5 days and Riteish Deshmukh already looking at his third century after 'Housefull 2' and 'Grand Masti'. As for writers Milap Zaveri and Tushar Hiranandani, this is a continuation of their hit run.

This one has worked big time for all involved, and how! Wow!
