The art house director Shyamaprasad who has immensely impressed us with movies like `Ore Kadal', `Akale' and `Rithu', is getting ready to satisfy his fans with the new movie `Electra'. Featuring a big cast, the movie, as usual like the previous film of the director, is based on a world classic.

Through the movie `Electra', Shyamaprasad is adapting the story of princess `Electra' from the Greek Mythology to the silent atmosphere of a Kerala village. The movie tells the plot based on `Amarath' family of Central Travancore, whose current heir is planter Abraham and his wife Diana. They were living a happy life with their children Edwin and Electra.

But certain circumstances force the family members to accumulate hatred and jealousy between themselves. And on a fine morning Abraham is found dead. But Electra, who was very much her father's dear girl, finds that it was a planned murder. The movie goes on to unravel the mystery behind the untimely death of Abraham.

While Tamil actor Prakash Raj is Abraham, Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala is Diana. Nayantara appears as Electra, a character heavily charged with primal energy, while notebook fame Skanda is Edwin.

The movie jointly scripted by Shyamaprasad and Kiran Prabhakar is fashioned as a family story and a crime detection story, at the same time. The movie will offer plenty of spaces for its lead artistes played by popular stars to be in the best of the characters. Also in the frames are Bijumenon, KPAC Lalitha, and P Sreekumar.

The movie is cinematographed by ad maker Sanu John Varghese while Vinod Sukumaran will handle the editing. The art department is handled by Boban while costumes are from Sakhy Thomas. The lyrics of the film have been penned by Rafeeq Ahamad while Alphonse has composed the musical score.

The movie was recently shown in the international film festival of India. Produced by Vindhyan in the banner of Rasika entertainments, `Electra' will grace the theatres in a couple of weeks.
