Eros international honoured at the 2007 yorkshire IIFA awards for taking Indian cinema global

Eros International, the AIM-listed leading integrated Indian media and entertainment company, was awarded the IIFA Honour for Promoting Indian Cinema Internationally at this year’s Idea International Indian Film Academy Awards which took place on 9th June 2007, Sheffield Hallam FM Arena.

The award was presented to Kishore Lulla, Chairman & CEO of Eros International, by Tessa Jowells, Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport and veteran filmmaker JP Dutta in recognition for Eros International’s contribution to Indian cinema and popularising Indian films within global markets to diverse audiences.

Speaking about the award, Kishore Lulla said: "Special thanks to my family, the whole Eros team, my friends, associates and audiences and, most important of all, the entire film industry in giving us the opportunity and empowering us to take Indian cinema global.” Eros International uniquely powered the entire IIFA Weekend by showcasing some of its forthcoming films during the IIFA programme and driving key forums and panel discussions designed to give wider access to the Indian film industry.

Eros International also recently won the coveted Business of the Year Award at the prestigious Asian Business Awards. Also at this year’s IIFA Awards, Eros International’s films Omkara and Lage Raho Munna Bhai collectively scooped six awards including Best Story and Best Director (Rajkumar Hirani for Lage Raho Munnabhai) and Best Performance in a Negative Role (Saif Ali Khan for Omkara).
