After masterblaster Sachin Tendulkar, yet another cricket ace, Yuvraj Singh has joined hands with Farhan Akhtar and Atul Kasbekar for a social cause.

For their (Farhan and Atul) social initiative called MARD, Yuvraj has agreed to recite the poem of Mard for the activists, in Punjabi.

After Sachin Tendulkar recited the poem in Marathi, playback singer Shaan in Bengali and Mahesh Baabu in Telugu, this time, it is Yuvraj Singh who was more than willing to come on board to spread the message in Punjabi.

Farhan’s father, the noted lyricist-writer Javed Saab has penned down the MARD poem which is being translated in various languages.

Talking about his association with MARD, Yuvraj Singh says, "I am very glad to be associated with Mard. I think every person needs to do their bit."

We all know that Farhan teamed up with the creative director of JWT and Atul Kasbekar of Bling and brainstormed and channelized a platform called MARD. Men Against Rape and Discrimination (MARD) is a social initiative designed to create awareness amongst men and to instil gender equality and respect towards women. The Delhi Rape incident was a rude shock for the entire country.

So Farhan and Atul feel that change in law and order cannot curb the increasing crime against women. An idea needs to be planted which will bring about a larger change.

Farhan Akhtar and Atul Kasbekar have vowed to spread awareness about gender inequality and rape through various mediums and languages.

The activists want to reach out to as many people possible with this thought and believe that with the cultural diversity in India, the only way to do this would be to break through language barriers.
