The Karnataka Chief Minister Dr B.S.Yediyurappa has agreed in principle to the suggestion made by Bangalore South MP and BJP colleague Ananthkumar to set up film cities in Mysore and Bengaluru. ‘I would look in to the details of allotting land and discuss with the film industry on the issue’ assured the chief minister.

At the ‘Shraddanjali’ for the departed souls of Dr Vishnu, Dr Ashwath and Chandulal Jain the MP Ananthkumar made the request for setting up a film city in Mysore for film activities as there are many natural locations around the city and another one at Bengaluru to handle commercial activities of films. He also suggested naming the two after Dr Rajakumar and Dr Vishnuvaradhan.

As of now there is no problem as such for setting up a film city in Bangalore. The former chief minister Ramakrishna Hegde in the late 80’s has allotted 350 acres of land at Hesaraghatta on the outskirts of Bangalore for film city. Various moves of the film industry people to set up film city here gone in vain in the last two decades. For setting up film city in Mysore new land has to be identified. According to one estimate the palace city Mysore has around 200 natural locations within a radius of 40 kilometers making it an ideal spot for filming.
