The film journalists have announced ‘Paruthi Veeran’ as the best film and Ameer as the best director in 2007. They have also selected Sathyaraj as Best Actor and Priyamani as Best Actress of 2007.

Cinema Journalists Association, which was founded in 2005, has decided to give away awards to the best talents in cine field every year. The association has started the process from this year. The 107 films that were released in 2007 were taken in to consideration for the awards to be given under various categories.

The list of the awards goes like this:

• Best film: Paruthi Veeran
• Best Actor: Sathyaraj
• Best Actress: Priyamani
• Best Director: Ameer
• Best Story Writer: Ram
• Best Script Writer: Venkat Prabhu
• Best Dialogue Writer: Viji
• Best Music Director: Yuvan Shankar Raja
• Best Lyricist: Na Muthukumar
