In less than a week after the tragic death of two-year-old Surjith Wilson who fell into a 70 feet open borewell hole, a five-year-old girl has fallen into a 50 feet hole on Sunday and rescue work is going on to pull her out for the past fifteen hours.  The incident happened in Har Singh Pura village in Gharaunda of Karnal and a JCB has been pressed into action and so far pictures show a lot of dust raised from the location.

On October 25th Surjith Wilson fell into the borewell hole near his house while playing and was initially stuck at 35 feet but further slipped to 70 feet.  Rescue operations were in full swing for four days with many even foregoing Diwali celebrations and the entire state of Tamil Nadu was hoping that the little boy come out alive.  But disappointedly only the decomposed body of the child was brought to ground.  Surjith however became a trending topic on social media and raised a huge awareness regarding the dangers of the open borewells.  The government of Tamil Nadu passed orders that all open borewells should be closed in twenty-four hours and converted into rainwater harvesting facilities.  Unfortunately now another five-year-old girl is stuck in the well and we can only hope and pray that she can be rescued and no other young life is lost again in the country.
