The first trailer of Balaji's 'The Dirty Picture' has managed to pleasantly shock the audience. Vidya Balan's unabashed yet aesthetic body display whilst enacting Silk Smitha has ensured that the film has managed to take a perception shift from being a serious biopic to a more wholesome commercial entertainer. The credit goes to director Milan Luthria though who confirms that there was much thought and debate before Vidya was zeroed down upon for the part.

Smiles Milan, "Vidya was my choice for four reasons. First and foremost to have someone like her play a character of this sort is enough reason to create curiosity amongst the audience. There is a certain grace, class and credibility that a Vidya Balan brings. Secondly, Vidya is a South Indian herself."

He continues, "The third point that went in Vidya's favour is her acting skill. We were clearly looking for a strong performer and not someone who could merely look sexy. Fourthly, she has the body of a classic voluptuous Indian beauty, something not many Bollywood actresses can boast of. Silk was never pencil thin."

With Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah and Tusshar as the three men in her life, 'The Dirty Picture', with music by Vishal and Shekhar, releases all over on 2nd December.
