As was feared, 'Gali Gali Chor Hai' hasn't done at all at the box office. The film didn't take a respectable opening, couldn't show any growth over the weekend and now doesn't even have much word of mouth to boast of, hence turning out to be a one week affair that has been sandwiched between 'Agneepath' and 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu'.

One expected the film to take at least 30%-40% opening but even that didn't happen as it's opening day collections hovered around the 20% mark, which was quite low. Despite being the solo notable release of the week, the film just couldn't register good enough numbers and managed collections in the tune of 3.5-4 crores in the opening weekend. With reviews too just being decent, not terrific enough to result in a turnaround of fortunes for the film, 'Gali Gali Chor Hai' didn't really have much to cheer about.

The film has been acknowledged for some good performances though, especially from Akshaye Khanna, Annu Kapoor and Satish Kaushik. However the leading ladies have been targetted for not really being important to the state of affairs in this film which did have it's moments but fizzled out in the second half. For Akshaye Khanna in particular, this is yet another box office disappointment as a solo lead. For someone who does far too less films, one wonders if at all he would pick up any project soon.

On the other hand the other two releases of the week, 'Love You To Death' and 'Staying Alive', just saw a token release of sorts in select theatres across the country. In fact the two films were not even reviewed by majority of critics and their arrival didn't make any noise whatsoever. With collections reading just a few lakhs, it would be a struggle for them to complete one week at theatres. Out of the two, 'Staying Alive' can still take respite from the fact that it saw some good reviews coming its way. However that is the only takeaway for this Ananth Mahadevan-Saurabh Shukla starrer that would now be out on DVDs soon.
