Director Pugazhendi Thangaraj is all set to release his upcoming film ‘Uchithanai Mugarndhal,’ which will release on December 16.

This film showcases the plight of a teenaged rape victim during the 2009 Sri Lankan racist war. Neenika plays the 13-year-old girl and she is the central character in the film. Veteran actor Sathyaraj, Nasser, Seeman and Sangeetha also appear in important roles in this film on child abuse.

The director in an interview revealed that the film is based on the cruelties suffered by a girl during the Sri Lankan war. He also said that his film also tries to convey a message that such types of heinous acts should never happen to any child anywhere.

Some sources close to this film’s unit reveal that the film got a lot of cuts when it crossed the censor board and will be released with a U/A certificate. Gemini Films Circuit will produce and distribute ‘Uchithanai Mugarndhal.’ The music for this film is by Imman.
