"Festember, the annual cultural festival of the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (NITT) is one of the top cultural fests of South India. This 4 day event is scheduled to take place from the 24th to the 27th of September. From Classical to EDM, musicians cover a wide variety of genres at the music stage here. The increasing number of artists every year has even encouraged the creation of a second stage called The Ark` - a venue made specially for individual artists or bands.

Festember`s Rock Nite` is set to feature three prominent Indian Rock bands - Black Letters, Skrat and Mushroom lake who will perform alternative, garage&funk and post rock respectively. Rock bands across the country, from college to full time bands, are set to compete in Gigahertz, Festember`s open rock band contest. With prelims held in the cities of Bangalore and Chennai this year, Gigahertz can arguably be called the premier event of Festember.

Festember also features a Sound Design Workshop conducted by Ghibran, the ace music director on September 26. His tunes for the films Papanasam`, Uttama Villain` have been runaway hits and his music for Thoongavanam` and Vishwaroopam 2` are hot prospects of the year.

This year, EDM Artists Alvar and Millas are all set to make the crowd headbang and move to their heavy bass drops. Proshows` are among the highly anticipated shows at Festember and this year, Festember is set to feature Pritam Chakraborty on Day 3. Pritam is one of Bollywood`s leading composers and his score for Dhoom` remains a hit with audiences even today. He will be sharing the stage with Abhijeet Sawant, Antara Mitra, Aditi Singh Sharma and Nakash Aziz. With many quality musical events and big performances set to happen this Festember, NIT Trichy is the happening place to be this coming week.
