A controversy has surrounded Allu Sirish's debut film,'Gouravam', in Tamil nadu. Some people in Tamil Nadu has complained that the film is based on a real incident of communal violence that took place in Dharmapuri, after an inter-caste marriage last year.

Pongular Manigandan, a local leader in Tamil Nadu, said, " The trailer of the film clearly shows that it is based on the Dharmapuri incident. Watching the movie will provoke more people to indulge in such horrifying activities".A stay order for the release of the movie has been requested on the behalf of 60 different communities and groups, portrayed to be supportive of honour killing.

The director of the film,Radha Mohan, cleared that the film is not based on the Dharmapuri incident." The film is not based on the Dharmapuri incident.I request all those who are alleging to watch the movie first and then comment".

He added that he will have a special screening for those who are alleging before the release of the film if the government orders him to do so.
