Expectations

Crime thrillers have always fancinated many film lovers. While, most of these films were larger than life type, there are few which are made in more realistic manner focusing the basis essence related to its theme. 'Gurgaon' is one such film which promises to deliver a hard-hitting realistic film. Though, non-presence of any known big faces fails to enhance the expectations level of this movie, despite of a good trailer and a promising cast.

Story

'Gurgaon' is a story of a real estate king Kehri Singh (Pankaj Tripathi) and his family. Kehri Singh is planning to retire and make his daughter Preeto (Ragini Khanna) lead the business with her qualifications and credibility.  On the other end, Kehri's elder son Niki Singh (Akshay Oberoi) loses out a huge amount betting on a Cricket match. Niki has to pay the lost money and in order to do so, he along with his associates decide to kidnap Preeto, so that they can seek big ransom amount from Kehri Singh. Things do not go as Niki had planned, which leads to some unwanted events.

The 'Glitz' Factor

The first half is totally gripping and has been presented in a slow thriller format. The slow pace works in the favour of the film in this part and keeps you intrigued inside the film and its various characters. The character establishment of the key members of the film has been shown in perfect manner.

The movie goes on a twist and turn ride in the middle portions which enhances the film to a different level. The story is highly interesting as well as intriguing at times. The cinematography is outstanding and worth watching. The background music is powerful and highly creative. It goes perfectly with the flow of the film.

Director Shanker Raman narrates a dark, unheard and highly engaging tale, but like a slow poison manner. He displays his characters in a natural manner with all the hidden dark elements attached to them.

Akshay Oberoi is brilliant in his part. Pankaj Tripathy is fantastic in his role. Ragini Khanna looks great. Aamir Bashir, Ashish Verma and Shalini Vatsa lend good support.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

The finale part seemed forced and pretentious. In order to do something different or something daring the writers have added few sudden twists, which fails to do justice to the theme of the film. These scenes could have been much better.

The second half of the film fails to match up to the expectations set by the brilliant first half of the film.

Director Shanker Raman should have worked bit hard over the culmination of his characters. Also, one can find the influence of many films in the second half of the movie. The character of Akshay Oberoi needed more justification.

Final 'Glitz'

'Gurgaon' is a dark slow pace thriller which will be cherished only by all those who love this genre.
