While Rana Daggubati, born on this day in 1984, celebrates his birthday today, he has his eyes fixed on hitting the jackpot in not one but three languages in 2012. He is not only debuting in Tamil (Vada Chennai), but also has two very important releases in Telugu and one golden chance in Hindi.

Before going into the details, it would be topical to talk about Rana’s body of work so far. He started off with a brilliant film, Leader, and we would have been justified to think that playing the difficult role of a politician was possible for him because of its able director, Shekar Kammula. Though he is all of three films old (Leader, Dum Maro Dum and Nenu Naa Rakshasi), Rana has a very important year ahead.

Naa Ishtam, a romantic action film in Telugu and Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum, an action thriller directed by Krissh, where he is playing a stage artiste, could well strengthen his box office standing. Ram Gopal Varma’s Department is something which might do what his first Hindi debut could not do to him.

On the other hand, Vada Chennai (Tamil), directed by Vetrimaaran, is a film where he is sharing screen space with Simbu. Looks like much is on the cards for Rana. The actor believes that stories choose him and not otherwise.

With the new year holding so much of promise to him, it seems that Rana is all set to undo the failure of Nenu Naa Rakshasi. IndiaGlitz wishes him a great year ahead.
