Actor Vijayakanth is in no mood to waste time.

He is a man possessed these days.

Vijayakanth has said that he would launch his political party on 14 September in a grand conference to be held at Thirunagar in Madurai in thousands of his fans would take part.

Vijayakanth chose yesterday to make this formal announcement as because it was one of the auspicious days.

And Vijayakanth these days has become pretty serious about these things.

Asked about choosing Madurai for the launch, the Captain said it was not because of the fact that it is his hometown. "Madurai was always a chosen place by many politicians in the past to launch their party. It is a lucky place".

Announcing this at his Andal Azhagar Kalyana Mandapam on Wednesday, Vijayakanth said "today I am taking the first step into politics which I promise would be a giant leap".

All other units including Advocates wing, students wing, women's wing have been formed for his party, Vijayakanth said and added "my political entry will fully take off on 14 September".

Without disclosing more details on his party, Vijayakanth said "we will fight for the cause of providing basic amenities for the masses".

Vijayakanth would visit Kumbakonam on 5 June to give financial assistance to the families of children killed in a school fire last year.
