While season of biggies is kick-starting only now, what with 'Jai Ho' and 'Holiday' being the only notable big ticket films in the first six months, it has been a series of medium budget films that have kept the audience engaged. A dozen odd successes later, each of which managed collections between 40-70 crore, it is time for yet controlled budget film to make a mark. 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania', which has cost just 28 crore with most of its moolah recovered pre-release via selling of ancillary rights, has now turned out to be a real big winner for Dharma, what with a very good week that saw consistent collections.

After a very good opening weekend, it was pretty much on the cards that the film would enjoy good patronage right through the week. This is what happened as this Shashank Khaitan directed film closed its first week at close to 53 crore. These are very good numbers indeed for a film which has Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt being seen in their third and fourth film each. In fact for both the youngsters, it has been a tremendous year so far and now with the success of 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania', they have demonstrated enough power to warrant ample fan base.

The super-success of 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' is very good sign for the industry which was looking forward to the next generation of actors to make its presence felt firm and strong. The film would now enjoy a good second week as well and while a lifetime total of around 75 crore is on the cards, it could possibly have done much bigger if not for the 'Kick' euphoria that is all set to engulf the nation on the coming Friday.
