Superstar Rajinikanth, who along with Kamal Haasan presented the Best Dialogue Writer Award to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the State Film Awards function in Chennai Tuesday, said he was proud to have the opportunity to give the CM an award.

"We have got a very rare opportunity to honour Kalaignar. This was not achieved even by Sivaji Ganesan and MGR. This is a proud moment in my life," he said.

Pointing out that the Chief Minister had attended the function despite his ill health, Rajini said this showed his commitment and kind heart. "We are indebted to you a lot," he said.

"I am in the field for 35 years and acted as hero for 32 years. On this happy occasion, I would like to thank all my producers, directors and co-artistes. I am happy to received the best actor award for Sivaji," he said.
