Richa Chadha is beaming. She was one leading lady who saw maximum applause coming her way for her tremendous act in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ despite the fact it was predominantly a male dominated film.

While it was felt that it would be male characters who would end up hogging all the limelight, Richa managed to steal their thunder.

Now that the film's sequel has released today, the feisty actress is happy to have showcased a different facet of her acting talent by playing someone double her age.

"When we were making the film, we never knew that it would earn a cult status for itself. You can't decide such things, it's only the audience that makes it possible.

After all, it is their judgment that works at the end of it all", says Richa. She isn't surprised with all the accolades that have already started coming her way ever since the film's screenings started over the weekend gone by.

"I did have an inkling of that happening when I saw the film for the first time at Cannes. Even though I knew the script inside out and had acted in it, I was glued to my seat right through the screen.

That further raised my expectations because otherwise I am very critical about my performance.

However here I knew that this small town film would have a universal appeal without being restricted to any geography or culture", she adds.

Well lady, you indeed are right and given the kind of cult following that 'Gangs of Wasseypur' seems to be enjoying, the appeal should only widen from this point on.
