Last year the entire Tamil film music fraternity was shocked and crestfallen when a controversy erupted between Isaignani Ilaiyaraja and ace singer S.P.Balasubrahmanyam when the former sent a legal notice to the latter for using his songs in the concert without getting due permission and SPB announced that henceforth he will not sing Ilaiyaraja's songs in concerts .

The issue lead to raging debates in social media between the fans of the two legends and also triggered a debate in mainstream media on who holds the rights of a song composed for a film. Throughout the clamour Ilaiyaraja never spoke anything. Months have passed and now he has spoken about it in a recent press conference to announce his upcoming music concert at Hyderabad, scheduled to take place on November 5, 2017.

When a reporter raised a question about the issue of sending a legal notice to SPB on based on Copyrights grounds, Ilaiyaraja said "I don't want to speak anything about that. If I speak something, it will be interpreted in wrong ways. So I think it is better not speak about that in a public platform.  This is a issue between me and my friend. I request that other should not interfere in this."

Ilaiyaraja addressing SPB as a "friend" is certainly a great news for the fans and film music lovers. The duo have delivered innumerable evergreen super hits and they have been close friends for more than four decades.
