Several panegyrics have been showered on Nandamuri Balakrishna since the day Sri Rama Rajyam was released. Comparisons with his father, late NT Rama Rao, who is perhaps the only actor in the history of world cinema to have received universal appreciation for playing the maximum number of mythological characters, have not proved to be a bane for him. Lay man and cognoscente alike have likened NBK to NTR.

Speaking at the 50-days function of SRR, Balayya submitted that he was only following in the footsteps of NTR. "Be it social, mythological, historical or folk, my father did all the varieties. It was he who heralded the trend. I am only trodding in the path (that was traversed by NTR). He was 52 when Bapu garu made Sri Ramanjaneya Yuddham with my father. I, too, am 52 now. I think acting in SRR was a divine preordination."

In fact, Balayya feels that he was duty bound as the legatee of NTR to act in a Lava-Khusha story. When Bapu came to him with the idea, he, thus, could not say no. He revealed that Bapu had given him all the liberty. "He (Bapu) knows that NTR’s blood runs through my veins," he said with an unmistakable sense of pride.

Balayya would not characterise the genre of the film. "This film propagates the greatness of our culture. It is difficult to say whether this is a mythological or a social film." He called the producer (Sai Babu) the real hero of SRR.
