'Current Theega', featuring Manchu Manoj and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles and Sunny Leone in an important role, is releasing on Oct 17th. Manoj is very confident about the success of the film and in an interview he shared some interesting things about the film.

Excerpts from the interview...

How did the journey of this film started ?

I've been trying to work with G.Nageswara Reddy for two years. We've tried some scripts. But they didn't work out. Finally one day he said about the Tamil film, 'Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam'.I fell in love with the film, when I watched it. That is how, this film has started.

Though the film is a remake, many changes were made to the story. The comedy dose in our film and the action sequences are more in our film compared to the original. The run time of our film is also less and the film will be racy. We have added a villain track for our film.

What is the film all about ?

I play a leader of VIP association in a village. The association consists young people, who try to give solution to the problems in the village in a logical way. The film has a very good love track and the emotions in the film are also very good.

How different is your character in this film, compared to your previous films ?

I've acted in some boyish characters in my previous films. But the character I played in 'Current Theega' will be manly. Unlike the noisy characters in my previous films, I played a man, who is very sarcastic in CT.

Reason behind roping in Sunny Leone for this film ?

We have considered many actresses for the teacher role in 'Current Theega'. But one day, my friend Ranjith suggested that Sunny Leone is a better option. I liked his idea, when I said about it to my team members, they were very excited. She has a very good following among the youth and we took her into the film for that excitement factor.

How did you convince your father about roping in Sunny Leone into the film ?

My father doesn't know who Sunny Leone is. We've only said that she is a Bollywood actress and when he asked why should we spend so much money on her, we said that she is getting very famous now. He agreed to take her into the film. He didn't come to know about her until the completion of her part in the film. But one day, when my father was praising her work, Ram Gopal Varma told him about her. But we somehow convinced my father.

Sunny Leone is a very good actress and hardworking. The way she changed herself from a porn star to a super star in India is commendable. We have to respect her.

We heard that the film received an 'A' certificate only because of Sunny Leone ?

I've to clarify on this. The film didn't receive 'A' because of Sunny, but because of the dances in the item song. There is no vulgarity in the song and even the family audiences will not feel uncomfortable with that song.

Rakul Preet Singh played a school girl in this film and you said you are playing a manly character. How is the love track between her.

It is true that Rakul Preet played a school girl in this film. I can't reveal more about her character, but the audiences will understand what is going on in the first few minutes. She is a very good actress and has done a wonderful job for this film.

Tell us about Jagapathi Babu's character

I want only Jagapathi Babu to play the character of heroine's father, after watching the Tamil version. When I called him and asked to act in the film, he immediately agreed. Our family has a good relation with Jaggu Bhai and I thank him for acting in this film.

He played a strict father, who is against love. But how he was convinced by the lead pair will be very interesting.

You share a good rapport with music director Achu.

Achu is an immensely talented music director. I met him first during 'Krishnarjuna'. He was working with M.M.Keeravani then. I liked his work and said that he is the music director of my next film, 'Nenu Meeku Telusa'. He was first shocked as he was only a key board player then and had not worked for any film. Our journey started then. I love his working style. He has given a very good music score for 'Current Teega'. The audio album is already a big hit and the background score will also be good.

We heard that Sampoornesh Babu played a very interesting character in the film. Tell us something about his character ?

Sampoornesh Babu played a very entertaining character in this film. I can't reveal about his character now and it should be better watched on screen.

Why do you perform such risky stunts for your films ?

I am very passionate about my work and I am a big fan of Jackie Chan since my childhood. So I love to do action sequences by my own. The budget of my films is less and so I thought using ropes etc. for action sequences for my films would be costly. So I do the action sequences without using ropes and dupes. I am also a big fan of Rajendra Prasad in my childhood.

What are the highlights of the film ?

The songs, Tirumala Kishore's dialogues and everything in the film is a highlight. A very good team has worked for our film and everyone has contributed well.

In the recent past, your family got connected to RGV well. Your father, brother and sister acted in his direction. Do you have any plans of working with him.

RGV is a workaholic and he doesn't waste time discussing about others. He only thinks of his work every minute. Even our family members don't waste time talking about others. So we got connected to him well.

Right now I've no plans of acting in RGV's direction for the next eight months and I can't tell if I will work with him in the future.

Many were asking you to play villainous roles in social networking sites. Are you interested in playing such roles ?

After watching my character in "Uu Kodathara ? Ulikki Padathara ?", many are asking me to play negative roles. I am interested in playing negative
