Imayamum Sigaramum Irattisuzhi
Director Shankar who is known for magnificent big budget films is content with films of only substance when he is the producer. Keeping up with it Shankar is offering 'Rettaizuzhi' as his next film under his home banner S-Pictures. Aishwarya Rai releasing the audio of the film has increased the stakes of the movie before release.
`Rettaisuzhi' brings the two legendary directors 'Iyakunar Sigaram' K. Balachander and 'Iyakunar Imayam' Bharathiraja together as actors that is something not tried before. Both the legends have voluntarily shed their star value as the directors and got themselves transformed as Ramasamy and Singaravelar for the film.
The film is a village subject and is about the antics of two village elders who stand by their revolutionary ideologies. The directors who created and nurtured almost all the biggies who adorned Tamil cinema in recent years have given great performances in front of the camera. The film also stars 22 children who give able support to the big ones in making the film a fit one for family audience.
How did Thamira get the work done from the directors who themselves are great actors? Thamira says "I just narrated the scene and the legends themselves decided on how to render that on screen. And they happened exactly the same way a similar character in real life would have performed." Their inherent childish attitudes added great value to the elderly characters they play adds Thamira.
For the youth factor in the film `Rettaisuzhi' has debutante hero Aari and Anjali of 'Kattrathu Thamizh' fame. Both the young artistes have done great jobs according to the director. Aari is a trained actor with 'Koothupattarai' and that shows on screen. Anjali has already proved her mettle before.
`Rettaisuzhi' is the first film of director Thamira and he has made a believe it or not impression in his first film itself by bringing two doyens together. The doyens agreed to do a film under the baton of a rank new director just out of love and care for the debutante Thamira. Thamira worked for some period as a script writer with K. Balachander. So you can expect a touch of KB in his work.
Karthik Raja is the music director of `Rettaisuzhi' and the songs are as usual good for his rich orchestration and folksy melodies. `Rettaisuzhi' reminds you still it's not time to write off this genius yet.
Cinematographer is Chezhiyan is also a notable film critic and writer. He debuted as a cameraman with 'Kalloori' another S-Pictures film. Shankar was overwhelmed by his cinematography in `Kalloori' and made him the cameraman for `Rettaisuzhi. Chezhiyan has brought to life the scenic beauty of Nellai Cheemai very well on the screen. Mu. Kasi Viswanathan's editing makes the film crisp and interesting.
Director Shankar has planned to release `Rettaizuzhi' as the summer attraction when the holiday season starts. Producer Shankar strongly recommends the film for children and family audiences. We too.
