It needs guts and conviction to make this kind of periodic cinema to present it to the generation of today. Ghanshyam Bandage producer of this film used both to bring to the present period the living legend of pre independence period Ingale Devaraya.

The ideologies of Baba Saheb Dr Ambedkar are followed by Devaraya in his regime and in the film he also departs from earth on the day Dr Ambedkar passed away. Ingale Devaraya focus on equality in the society is well fought. The brain of Devaraya to affix upper caste surname is a revolutionary development. The education to down trodden he makes it must to compete is well addressed. When the issue of good living condition comes on the advice of Dr Ambedkar, Devaraya goes for constructing hostels. At this juncture he is lured by money lender of a ‘Blade Company’ – the first major cheating case falls on Devaraya as his pool up of upper caste money in a bank that goes pauper. Seeking aid in the Christian community and later renouncing to live back in his old style.

It is Suchindra Prasad all the way. He deserves awards for his performance and right emotions at right places. The debutant Shivani as Kasthuri is very good in the role. She has very good future for maturity shown in first film. Roopika as Paru a dancer later convert to serve the people performed well.

V Manohar music in the background and two songs especially Kattutheva Navu…is long lasting tune. Nagaraj Adwani cinematography and Shashidhar Adapa art work to bring back the 1920’s mood on silver screen deserves appreciation.

Dr Sarjoo Katkat novel ‘Devaraya’ that is ‘Ingale Marga’ is an opener to those who were not aware of Devaraya of Ingale in Chikkodi district of Karnataka.

Score – 7/10
