Irandaam Ulagam

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Hindi Comments

The days of 7g and Kadhal Kondein are long gone, but the director is never tired of the romance that lingers till the last ounce through his movies. Selva is back after quite some time with a socio fantasy movie that has romance as the centerfold. The film was in the making for quite a while with a lot of actors, actresses and music directors being replaced right from the start.

Romance is an integral subject that Selva chooses in most of his movies and the catch is how easily weaves it into the storyline. Irandam Ulagam is touted to be a fantasy film with the lead pair donning dual roles. A mystery blended love film is what the director says, so our creativity put to test indeed!

Arya was not the first choice for this movie, but the trailers and teasers reveal as he is the right man for the job. Being cheerful and ironical has been his forte for quite some time, so a serious role is something he would love to depict. Anushka looks to be the perfect fit for Arya, the tall lass matching Arya's height with her suave attitude. The duos will be donning a double role and considering their acting skills, it will be interesting to see how they bring about a difference in the two roles.

If Selva's movies have actors carrying the flags, then the musicians are the torch bearers and act as an integral part. The BGM plays a big factor for Selva's movies and one look at 7g and Kadhal Kondein will tell you why. The music album is already trending making it to the top of iTunes over its launch. However Anirudh will be replacing Harris for the BGM bit, so that's something to ponder.

The movie has been extensively shot in intense climatic conditions of Georgia, and forests of Brazil as well. IU involves CGI to a great effect and the work should reflect well on the screen.

Lastly quotes from the director to make your tongue waggle ""No one has really attempted a mystical film. There is a lot of Sufism and a Zen feel to the film. I have made a romantic film that uses these elements in the background. There is a reality in mysticism"
