During his outburst around the Oscars fiasco when his 'Paan Singh Tomar' couldn't make it to the shortlist for India's nominations, Irrfan Khan had famously quipped that the way films were being selected, even 'Rowdy Rathore' could have been sent for the Oscars.

While the statement was made in the spur of the moment, Irrfan still feels that there were many other films, including his own 'Paan Singh Tomar', which had better chance at finding a nod of approval from the jury when compared to 'Barfi!' which hasn't managed to cross the hurdle.

Says Irrfan, "I was just angry about the system, The people who are sitting and deciding which film should be sent for the Oscars ironically have nothing to do with films.

They don't have passion for cinema. In fact I am surprised to see that there are so many boards and there are members who are doing their job because they happen to be there.

It is awkward because the situation is pretty much akin to being a teacher who is teaching but has nothing to do with teaching."

A point to ponder indeed!
