There is some uncertainty over the Deepavali releases from Kollywood this year. Cheran's Thavamai Thavamirundhu seems to be delayed.

So that leaves us with Majaa, Sivakasi and Bambharakannaley, Kasthoori Maan, Athu Oru Kanaa Kaalam.

A quick run through of the films:

Majaa

After the high-octane Anniyan,Vikram is coming up with a light-hearted comedy in Majaa. It is a remake of the Malayalam hit Thommanu Makkalum directed by Shafi. Action, comedy, love and emotion all have been wrapped up nicely in the package, says Shafi. Asin is paired with 'Cheeyan' for the first time while Pasupathi, Vadivelu, Manivannan, Vijayakumar are the supporting cast. Vikram says, 'It will be a hilarious entertainer and will rock the audience. We have tried to retain the essence of Malayalam original with suitable changes to enthrall Tamil audience'.

Sivakasi

Vijay and director Perarasu are keen to repeat the success of Tirupachi. An action-suffused entertainer, Sivakasi stars Asin opposite Vijay, while Prakash Raj plays the villain. Vijay hopes that the movie will hold its own amidst the heavy competition. 'I could see the potential of director Perarasu in Tirupachi. It's nice to work again with him with the confidence of a hit behind us. The film has shaped well and should do well.' Perarasu, who has penned the lyrics for all the songs, said the duel between the brothers - Prakash Raj playing Vijay's brother - will be the high point of the movie.

Vijay is in the role of an electric welder having come from Sivakasi to Chennai for his livelihood. Yesteryear actress Geetha plays Vijay's mother in the movie and the movie has mother-son sentiment too.

Bambharakannaley

Srikanth starrer Bambharakannaley is a comedy film which marks the directorial debut of Parthy Baskar (son of Ilayaraja's elder brother).

Telugu starlet Arti Agrawal makes her debut in Tamil while glam-girl Namitha plays the other heroine in the film. Vadivelu gives Srikanth company for some earthy fun.

Srikanth plays Arumugham, a sentimental young man, who does everything in life only after getting 'divine orders', whatever that means.

Kasthoori Maan

The Tamil remake of Malayalam movie with the same title, the film features Meera Jasmine and Prasanna. Marking the debut directorial of famed Malayalam director Lohitha Dass, Kasthoori Maan deals about the sacrifices made by a woman to help her lover achieve his ambitions.

Ilayaraja's music and Meera Jasmine's performance need a special watch.

Athu Oru Kanaa Kaalam

Marking the return of cinematographer-director Balu Manehdra's to tinsel town, after a long gap is, Athu Oru Kanaa Kalam. Dhanush has pinned all his hopes on the good run of the movie.

The movie due to various reasons had a delayed completion and adding to its problem is a tiff between the producer Sai Chidambaram and director Balu Mahendra.

With musical score by Ilayaraja, the movie also features Priyamani and Tejashree.
