An actor who gets younger as years go by-this is an graceful description of Mammootty, the Sultan of Mollywood showbizz, who is still the most aspiring icon and fashion trend setter among youth's of the state.Come September.7, and Mammootty, called as Mammukka celebrates his birthday. Continuing to enthral audience even in his thirtieth year from his first major release, the most handsome actor is also the most well known Keralite of all times.

The megastar who made his first screen appearance in Anubhavangal Paalichakal in 1971 as a junior artist, his first film as an actor, Mammootty went to hit big time in the eighties with the role of the police officer in 'Yavanika' which catpulted him to the heights of super stardom. M. T. Vasudevan Nair and K. G. George., were the two filmmakers who has given crucial support to his career, which now offers a list of around 350 films, also making him the next only to Prem Nazir in the number of lead roles in Indian films.

Mammootty was the first Malayalee hero to have created hits in Tamil, and Telugu and acted in a few Hindi films. A three time recipient of National Film Awards, he has also won seven Kerala State film Awards and and eleven film fare awards. He was the first (1998) Malayalam actor from the state to be honoured with Padmashri for his contributions to cinema.Still reigning as the super hero in Malayalam, Mammootty is able to create artistic films and characters every years in equal intervals. Also working as he Chairman of Malayalam Communications, he has promoted various humanitarian causes throughout Kerala. He is the patron of Pain and Palliative Centre, Care and share initiatives, the ambassador of Jeevan Jothi, and is the goodwill ambassador of the Akshaya project.

Though the year didn't offer him much luck at the Box office, Mammootty is currently busy completing his 'Venicile Vyaapri' directed by Shafi at Alalpuzha. With three dozen projects in the pipeline, the megastar of Malayalam is still the most wanted actor of the state with a completely blocked dates at least for the next three years.
