National Award winner Vetrimaaran has confirmed that Telugu star Rana Daggubati, who was roped in to play a key role in 'Vada Chennai', is no more part of the project. IG had earlier reported that Rana has walked out of the project but there was no official confirmation on this front.

"Rana has opted out of Vada Chennai as he had some issues with the way his character was sketched. We will be working together soon," posted the 'Polladhavan' and 'Aadukalam' director on his microblogging page.

‘Vada Chennai’ has STR aka Silambarasan in the lead and is produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud Nine Movies. Andrea Jeremiah will be seen in a crucial role and there’s no official information yet on the lead lady although it is said that Divya Spandana has been approached for the role.

Recently, there was a buzz that director Vetrimaaran was facing some difficulties in kick-starting the project due to Simbu keeping himself busy with his music album. However, the director denied it and said and he is still penning the script.
