Iyakkunar Imayam Bharathiraja to start a film school

Well, as the saying goes, if at all you should learn your craft then it should be under the tutelage of the Master. The good news for aspiring filmmakers and film students is that the Iyakkunar Imayam Bharathiraja is launching a film school BRIIC, Bharathiraja International Institute of Cinema.

Bharathiraja is a six time National Award winner and is credited for taking Tamil cinema outside of the studios paving way for realistic cinema as we know it today. He has introduced numerous stars like Gowndamani, Janagaraj, Radhika Sarathkumar, Karthick, Nizhalgal Ravi, Radha, Revathi, Vijay Shanthi, Aruna, Rekha, Ranjitha, Priyamani and Kajal Agarwal. Directors Bhagyaraj, Manobala, Manivannan, N V Nirmal Kumar, Chithralakshmanan, Seeman, Leenamanimekkalai, K Dandapani, Bharathikrishnakumar have apprenticed him. Lyricist Vairamuthu, Editors Mohanraj and Palanivel, Cinematographers Nivas, B.Kannan, Dhanabalan and Designer Sasi have been Bharathiraja finds.

BRIIC will have The Vice President of Bharathidasan University Mr. Muthukumar, Director Mahendran, Director Maniratnam, Director Priyadarshan, Director Rajiv Menon, Kavingar Vairamuthu, Director Gangai Amaran, Actress Radhika Sarathkumar and Director & Actress Suhasini Maniratnam as honorary consultants.
