From a musical film `Sanchari' to an action film `Jataayu' is the journey of Raaj. This is also his direction debut. The film scores in the action department and technically the film is substandard.

On the content wise the film has a good suspense in narration. The delivery of dialogues from all the characters needed some alteration. Raaj fits the bill of action hero and urgently he needs a hair cut too. The takings of the shots from cameraman Nandakumar and two songs from Vinay Chandra lifts the film. The sensible editing was the dire need of this film.

Who is `Jataayu'? It is not the bird of `Tretayuga' - like how the bird flies in the air the protagonist in this film Gejjaga (Raaj) flies in action scenes. He is not aware of his birth and he is a trusted servant in the house of Avinash the village head.

The trusts with the master breaks when Gejjaga is asked bring his sister to the house as she reached puberty. It is customary practice that the girl in the village reaching puberty shares the bed of the village head. The village head with a daughter age to get marry in the house asking for Gejjaga sister irks him. He revolts and the penury starts. In the power of village chieftain and Gejjaga obviously the latter is thrown after severe hits.

Post interval is rising to power by Gejjaga. It is revealed that he is a man of good fortune and power. Gejjaga is also close relative of village chieftain. It is not an easy end at last. A severe action breaks out leading to climax.

In the action and force required for the film it is a punching performance from Raaj. He fails miserably in dialogue delivery. Surabhi has got a convincing role. Roopasri talent is wasted. Avinash, Siddaraj Kalyankar, Killer Venkatesh adds good support to character roles.

A promising music director of Kannada cinema Vinay Chandra gives two good numbers - Dava Dava..is best of the two.

MU Nandakumar cinematography is another trump card of the film. The `Kesragadde'(mire or slush land) action scene is chilling. The angles of Nandakumar are terrific in the film.

If you are an action lover take a look at this film `Jataayu'.

Score - 6/10
