1) Jayam Ravi is used to doing family films and chocolate boy roles will he suit the role of a police officer?

Jayam Ravi`s best performance till date comes in Thani Oruvan` in which he has worked up his physique to perfectly match the cop role and from start to finish he has lived the role of Mithran IPS expressing a wide range of emotions.

2) Pschyco thrillers will have villains and motives that are queer we don`t understand and thus cannot relate to them...

Thani Oruvan`s villain Siddharth Abhimanyu who is not sick in the mind or queer but a powerful man who controls businesses and politics and you can easily relate to him. Arvind Swamy finds his place in the top five among the ten best villainic performances in Tamil cinema history.

3) Heroines in these kinds of movies will not have much to do and also there will not be much romance...

Nayanthara plays Mahima in Thani Oruvan` and the script gives her enough space to be more than just an arm candy to the hero. The film has one of the cutest love scenes in Indian cinema which is brilliantly written and executed by Suba and Mohan Raja respectively. Nayanthara`s character is what helps the hero to finally realise his power and conquer the villain.

4) Most of the psychological thrillers are slow moving (including international films) how about Thani Oruvan`?

Thani Oruvan` takes a little time to set up the story (15 minutes) but after that it is about two and a half hours of a roller coaster ride with never a dull moment.

5) Is it ok for family viewing?

Most of the movies of mass heroes are disguised as family entertainers and comedies but have lots of scenes involving liqor use, skin show, blood and gore, item dances, camouflaged sex and vulgarity. Thani Oruvan` is a very clean movie barring a couple of scenes containing violence which are necessary for the story and not thrust for the sake of thrills.

6) These kind of films will not have comedy scenes...

Most films have a group of comedians trying to tickle your funny bones and failing miserably but Thani Oruvan` has only one comedian in Thambi Ramaiah and he brings thunderous laughs at regular intervals every time he appears on the screen.

7) We are bored when songs come as speed breakers...

Thani Oruvan` has just three songs, one song Kadhal Cricket` is in the first half which is a foot tapping number and it just zips past you, Theemai than Vellum` is a theme song which enhances the narration appropriately throught the film and Kannala` is the duet song which comes at the most touching moment of the film that it comes as a happy relief.

8) What is so different about Thani Oruvan` that we have not seen before?

In Thani Oruvan` the villain (Arvind Swamy) is not connected to the hero at all but the hero (Jayam Ravi) volunatarily disturbs him. Arvind Swamy and Jayam Ravi never meet in the movie till the climax but the cat and mouse game between them is told in the most novel way. The real heroes of the film are writers Suba and Mohan Raja whose brilliant scenes and hard hitting dialogues get thunderous claps from the audiences in almost every scene in the movie.
