Jayasurya
The latest bilingual film Jayasurya directed and produced by Manojkumar under the banner of Lakshmi Priya movies with Arjun - Laila - Chaya Singh in the lead has been completed.
Director Manojkumar said, "Arjun is playing two roles of a Collector and as a rowdy. He has given excellent performance in both the roles. We completed the dubbing and re-recording in June and planning to release the film in July." The second schedule of the film was held at Pollachi for 15 days during which a song was canned on Arjun and Laila besides a fight involving Arjun. In the third schedule at Kolkata another song was shot on Arjun and Laila and a fight involving Arjun was shot on Howrah Bridge. The talkie portion and fights are over.
Arjun- Manojkumar combination in `Vanavil' was successful. After that his recent movies taking a drubbing at the box-office, he is all the more cautious to have his next do well. Actor Arjun, whose last few ventures including Elumalai, Parasuram and Ottran failing to create any impact at the box-office, expressed hope that his next film Jayasurya would set things right for him. Chaya Singh, who danced her way to fame through Manmadharasa in Thiruda Thirudi, says, 'I am playing the ladylove of Arjun in the movie. The movie offers me great scope to prove my acting credentials. A song with Arjun and Laila was shot in Arjun's farm near Porur. Sets were constructed for this.
Along with Arjun, Laila and Chaaya Singh, the film also has Shrinivas Rao, Vadivelu, Paravai Muniamma, Rajkapoor, Ilavarasan, Kazan Khan and others.
