John Paul Vaathil Thurakkunnu

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Malayalam Comments

After landing into Mollywood three decades ago with 'Pratheesksha', a movie featuring Sukumaran and Mohan, and songs 'Ormakale kaivala charthi…helmed by Salil  Chowdhary,  director Chandrahasan  is back with a movie curiously titled as 'John Paul Vaathil Thurakkunnu'. Giving an air in the title just of a new documentary on eminent scriptwriter John Paul, this is but an emotional thriller, based on the story with the same title by popular writer Punathil Kunjabdulla. Deepak Parambol, popular with his role of the youth leader Manoj in 'Thattathin Marayathu' and the villain in 'Thira', will play the lead in this emotional thriler.

Deepak,  a disciple of the Vineeth Sreenivasan school of acting, made his debut on the screen in a small role in Malarvadi Arts Club. But this new project seems to be a   dream role for  him who has  given it his best shot. Shruthi Menon, best known as the anchor of Vodaphone Comedy stars, will be seen playing one of the lead characters in John Paul Vaathil Thurakkunnu. Chennai-based theatre person Darshana Rajendra enact the other female character in the film.

Produced by Arjun Mohan, and  touted to be an intelligent thriller, the movie tells the  story of two men and how their lives get entangled when John, who comes to attend an interview, opens a door that he should not have. As a result their lives are changed for ever. The plot revolves around John who is then trapped into a saga of betrayal and revenge. Sudhip Joshy comes up as the second important character in the movie which will also feature Nirmal, Vishnu Raghav, Madhu and P Balachandran.

The action scenes in the film are reportedly some of the toughest that have been filmed in Malayalam cinema, choreographed by leading Tamil fight masters Anb-Arivu. Shot in Peerumede, Kanjirapally, Kuttikanam and so on, the film that has been filmed by Rakesh Ramakrishnan, a former assistant of veteran cinematographer Venu. The movie is edited by Prejish Prakash, while Aniyan M Simon does the music.

Produced  under the banner of Ministry of Movies, the movie will be on theatres in another month.
