Joker

Shirish Kunder's Joker is not about circus's or jokers but all about Aliens, UFOs, space-ships and satellites. Music director G.V Prakash Kumar, nephew of maestro A.R Rahman and a renowned name in Tamil music industry is all set to debut as a music director along with another debutant Gaurav Dagaonkar as guest composer for this album. The music of Shirish Kunder's earlier films Jaaneman and Tees Maar Khan have already topped the music charts. It's a wait and watch situation how Joker will fare on the music charts this time.

 Kafirana

Singer: Sunidhi Chauhan
Lyrics :Shirish Kunder

The album opens with this pompous item-number Kafirana. The track was in controversy for being titled as "I wanna Fakht you" but after a lot brouhaha it was finally changed to "I wanna Just you". It is a very peppy dance number with high octane music and catchy beats. The song has the flamboyance of the local Maharashtra lavani and Sunidhi Chauhan has support by Anand Shine and chorals. The song has a lot of dholak beats and is constantly peppered with the sound of lazim and tutari giving it a very local feel. Director Shirish Kunder has picturised it flashily giving the item song a very rich feel. Guest composer Gaurav Dagaonkar's composition is simply impressive.

Jugnu

Singers: Udit Narayan
Lyrics :Shirish Kunder

Udit Narayan makes a fantastic comeback with this number! Shirish Kunder's lyrics are beautifully written. G.V. Prakash Kumars compositions are reminiscent to that of A.R. Rahman. His opera style music is very much like that of Rahman's other works. Shirish Kunder's Jugnu is an Indian remote- sensing nano-satellite that is used for providing data for agriculture and disaster monitoring; 3. The song is impressive from the start and will appeal to all.

Singh Raja

Singers: Daler Mehndi and Sonu Kakkar
Lyrics :Shirish Kunder

Daler Mehndi and Sonu Kakkar come with a funky hip hop number. Lot of Bhangra beats accompanied with the electronic flute is an interesting combination. The song has the festive bhangra beats and Daler Mehndi's loud voice is toned with Sonu Kakkar's husky voice. Shirish Kunder has experimented with multi-lingual lyrical settings giving it a very universal appeal. This one is a sure hit with the masses.

Yeh Joker

Singers: Sonu Nigam& Shweta Pandit
Lyrics :Shirish Kunder

Loud percussions and louder the vocals, this theme song Yeh Joker is a lengthy track. Sonu Nigam's vocals are so loud that Shweta Pandit's simply blends into the instrumentation of this track. Considering the other tracks in the album G.V. Prakash Kumar has nothing innovative here. The song is mundane with high peppy beats of the drums but the track sums up the entire story of the film here.

Tears Of Joker

Instrumental

The second last number in the album Tears of Joker is a stupendous piece of composition from G.V Prakash Kumar. Soulful, and enchanting the music it is an amalgamation of classical Carnatic music with electronic arrangements and chorals.

Alien Arrival

Instrumental

The album ends with this impressive orchestration of instrumental composition Alien Arrival. The track is dominated with the loud trumpets, horns, drums and marching sounds. It then descends to the subtle sound of wind-chimes accompanied by chorus. Brilliant masterwork by G.V. Prakash Kumar.

Overall: Joker is entertaining and G.V Prakash Kumar has delivered two instrumental Tears of Joker and Alien Arrival masterpieces. Kafirana will be a hit amongst the masses. The other two tracks Singh Raja and Jugnu will turn out to be the most favourites with Udit Narayan making a fantastic comeback of sorts. Overall G. V.Prakash Kumar has finally made his mark in bollywood.
