One of the popular faces on small screen today Jyothi Rai hailing from Mangalore (the land of Aishwarya Rai) is looking for more meaningful and thought provoking roles in big screen. As ‘Devaki’ in ‘Jogula’ television serial in Zee Kannada channel playing the role of ‘Surrogate Mother’ she had won lakhs of hearts of small screen viewers. The popular face as she had appeared in all the 200 episodes of ‘Jogula’ directed by Vinu Balanja the pretty good actress Jyothi Rai is also in the role of ‘Shanthala’ in ‘Bandhe Barthava Kala’ in ETV Kannada.

Jyothi Rai has in fact forgotten her name as everyone calls her as ‘Devaki’. Born in Mangalore and brought up in Madikeri Jyothi Rai is averse to commercial films. A graduate in science and armed with Computer Science Jyothi Rai married to Padmanabha Rai who is a Networking engineer has a role in small screen that is very close to her real life.

With popularity on one side in small screen and offers pouring from big screen Jyothi Rai is interested in off beat quality films. She has rejected a dozen commercial film offers. ‘I have strong aversion to costumes suggestion in films’ says Jyothi Rai. The role similar to what Radhika Pandit played in ‘Moggina Manasu’ I am interested in big screen she states with a wide smile.
