Bollywood's evergreen dream girl Kajol is making a comeback in Kollywood after two decades with Dhanush's 'Velai Illa Pattadhari 2'. Her only Tamil film before this was the 1996 blockbuster 'Minsara Kanavu'.

Kajol had visited Chennai on Saturday for the promotion of 'VIP 2' and IndiaGlitz had a special Red Carpet interview with the ageless beauty. Here are the excerpts.

It is rumored that you were the replacement for the character written for Rajinikanth in 'VIP 2'?

No. Vasundhara was always a female character. Was written with a woman in mind. And Vasundhara will remain Vasundhara.

Tell us about the character Vasundhara?

I like her. She is an awesome woman. very self made. she is one of those complete people who doesn't require any tag in front of or behind her names to identify her as to who she is.

What made you choose the script?

Number one because of the fact that I liked the script. No.2 was the fact that they lied to me and told that I din't have to speak Tamil in the film. I actually thought that I would have not 50% of my dialogues in English which a lot of them are but let me tell you it's not 50%. It took me a day or two to get used to it. To look a little better doing it. I think I have managed convincingly so far.

Your comment on Soundarya as a director?

Wonderful. She was very focused; very clear; knew exactly what she wanted from every scene, how she wanted to shoot it etc. It was a pleasure working with her.

How was it working with Dhanush?

He is a wonderful actor. He is very focused, very talented, he has written the screenplay, dialogues as well for the film. He was very, very interested in how to work it around. They really made an effort to work around me as well to make sure that everything went off well.

How different is Vasundhara's character from the one you played in 'Gupt'? Because there were comparisons between the two characters after the release of the trailer.

I think this film is completely different. It is not a murder mystery like 'Gupt'. It's a clash of personalities, clash of beliefs, clash of two characters. That's really where the essence of the story comes from. And I guess you will have to see the rest of movie to know exactly what comes after that.

Are you open to do more Tamil films?

Definitely. But I think it will have to do with the script. Whether I feel comfortable with it, whether I don't feel comfortable with it, whether I feel like I am capable of doing or not etc.

Why you haven't done any Hindi film after 'Dilwale'?

No i haven't because, I am also starting my own production by the end of this year. I don't feel I should do a film just because I feel like I am not doing a film. i would much rather sit at home and do nothing.

What is your comment on women-oriented movies that are flooding Bollywood and down south?

I think most importantly we are flooding the film industry with good films. The lesson we have to take out of this is that our film industry is grown, changed and its a wonderful time for cinema because the audience has finally come up and decided that we like watching different films. We can have different genres, we can have different stories and we are willing and open to see more.

What about the script for our own movie?

It is my production and we have the script ready. We will be starting the film in October.

I have been offered Tamil films before and I just didn't feel like as though I would be able to do justice. Because I actually felt that there was a huge big language barrier and now I realized that the barrier was only in my head.

What was your husband Ajay Devgan's reaction after you choose 'VIP 2'?

For me to choose a film is completely me. I can take his advice but the end decision is mine. But of course he told me that if it is a nice script you must do it.
