Universal Hero Kamal Haasan is scouting for rewriting of Censor rules. The outrage of many sections of the society, in some cases valid and in other cases puritanical in nature, is debatable and in this context, Kamal argues that Censor rules be re-written.

It may be recalled that in 2005, Kamal had said that some of the rules of Censor Board were "rusty." His contention was that the rules were not in accordance with the spirit of the times and that some members of the CB often were political-minded.

Almost 4 years after he launched a tirade against the "archaic" rules at a convention, Kamal has once again raised valid points. He sensationally remarked then saying that many rules were formulated by "our forefathers in the 1940s."

He feels that when even the Indian Penal Code sees amends, why can't the censor boards' role be reviewed? In the past, his 'controversial' Hey Ram! saw much censor hassles. He made his disgust known on the occasion and several times after, and he is only repeating what he has already said in the past.
