Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan has never hesitated to voice his opinion on public issues. He has proved this bold trait of his yet again by voicing his candid opinion on whether it was right to eat beef food while the nation is raging in a debate over the topic after the brutal murder of an old man in Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly consuming beef.

Addressing media persons on the sidelines of the trailer and audio launch of his upcoming film 'Thoongavanam', Kamal Haasan said, "No one else can decide what I should eat. I used to consume before but not now. Food should be left to an individual's choice"
